Adventures in Preservation volunteers have been involved in Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum's preservation process since 2008. Restoration of the stone garden walkways has been completed, and in 2013 volunteers will continue their focus on the mansion's large interior shutters. Participants will learn skills for historically sensitive restoration with attention to curatorial, preservation, and environmental considerations. We will remove loose paint, make carpentry repairs, and prime and paint. The Bartow-Pell Mansion was once one of nearly two dozen 19th-century estates in the Pelham Bay area - now it is the only one remaining.
